Lightning is the sweetest boy ever! He loves everyone he meets -- people and dogs -- and his little tail never stops wagging. He is a joy to be around. He'll roll over for a belly rub as soon as he meets you, and he's never without a smile on his face. 

But poor Lightning was severely neglected in the past. He is overweight -- we're working on that! -- and had gone for who knows how long without thyroid medication. His thyroid doesn't produce enough hormones, so he will need inexpensive medicine to fix that for the rest of his life. The medication is starting to do his job. He had little to no hair on most of his body when we got him, but it's growing back. He still needs some good nutrition and exercise to get him back to full health. 

He has a collapsed trachea. This causes him to cough when he gets excited. It sounds kind of nasty, but it doesn't stop him from loving life. He does have medication for it, and we do our best to help him avoid getting excited so he doesn't cough as much as he otherwise would. 

This boy is just a love, and he would love to spread his cheer around in a home of his own.
